Laboring

We are winding down at the end of the Labor Day weekend. Polly and Rose are at college, but Jess came home with 10 of her Middlebury friends for a reunion that has lasted from Friday night until after breakfast today. It was titled "BLade" for "Best Labor Day Ever", and has lived up to expectations. They are a great bunch, all now working or, in one case, about to go off to graduate school, and smart and funny. They also know how to have a good time, to the extent that I have been outdrunk, outeaten and outlasted. Worse, this morning, Jane was outcrossworded.
Friday night was arrival night, from after work until late. I don't know what time they all went to bed, but they were up in time to hang around the pool and then devour a gargantuan feast that Jane and I put up: huge lump of pork roasted on the barbie, salads, dips, you name it. We ate outside in the dark; Clark Smith's parents, Rick and Karen came as well, and we had a blast.
On Sunday, they all got up and eventually went on a tubing trip, drifting down the Delaware. We had Thai food from our new favorite restaurant, Thai Tida, in Lambertville (Pennsylvania treachery!!).
Today has been mostly departures, though there has been some swimming, reading, demonstration of superior crossword skills.....mostly just hangin'....the weather has been fabulous all weekend: sun, 80s, low humidity. Why do anything else but hang?

All looks and sounds great fun - esp like little letter 'a' in BLaDE logo
Yes crosswords - I print off the Telegraph one every day - I like them very much but still not a very good crossworder. J
